Helping your children pick out their clothes is never easy. You have to make sure that you find clothes that fit, are comfortable, will last and appeal to the child’s changing aesthetic tastes. As a parent, you get the hang of this eventually.

But then you get thrown a curve ball. Like when your kids decide that they’re ready to start playing winter sports and suddenly you find yourself trying to figure out the ins and outs of buying youth snowboard jackets and other child ski wear.

It can be daunting at first but it’s not as bad as it initially seems. Rely on the stuff that you already know and supplement that knowledge with some research into good ski wear and you’ll do just fine. It’s one of those parenting things that you just figure out.

Stick with the same basic rules that you do for buying any clothes. For example, kids ski pants should fit in the same way that their normal pants fit. Then consider the specifics like the lining and material of the ski wear. This clothing costs a little more and you buy it less frequently but you’ll figure it out. And your kids will tell you what they want anyway!
