Cheerleading Captain is a Tough Role

Many girls dream of becoming the captain of their high school cheerleading teams. A much smaller number of girls get the chance to realize this dream. Those that do get that chance often find out that being a cheerleading team captain is tougher than you might think.
First of all, you will find yourself having to take responsibility for a whole team. You’ll be in a leadership position so you’ll have to make and enforce rules, settle arguments between team members and report everything that’s going on to the cheerleading coach.
This leadership position could make you a target for some harassment from your peers. The girls on the squad may challenge your authority. Some of them will dislike you just because you’re the team captain. You need to have a strong sense of self esteem to handle this with grace.
You may find that you put a lot of pressure on yourself when you’re team captain. That’s because you’ll want to know the routines better than everyone else. You’ll want to be in better shape than your team. If you’re too hard on yourself, you might stop enjoying the sport.
Managing teams is tough. If you’re looking to just have a good time then join the cheerleading squad but don’t try out for captain. It’s a great position for the girls that can handle it but it’s not as easy as it seems.
