Yoga During and After Pregnancy

I really started getting into yoga a few months ago. It all started with a prenatal yoga DVD that my friend gave me when I was about 6 months pregnant. I was very sore and having terrible back pain and the yoga really helped to relax me. During my last trimester, I felt like a huge water buffalo lumbering around on my yoga matt but it did help!
I especially liked the guided breathing segments of the DVD. I think that may have even helped me deal with labor. Well, the first stages any way! Now, as a new mom, I am stressed and tired in completely different ways than when I was pregnant. I still believe that the breathing exercises are a huge help. They help to relax me at 3 o’clock in the morning when my baby decides that she just is not interested in sleeping.
I found some postnatal yoga videos that I am going to use as soon as I get the OK from my doctor. I even found one that you can do with your baby! I cannot wait to try that one out. I think that she is too little yet though. Your baby has to be able to hold her head up on her own and my little girl seems a long way from that. I’m sure it will happen before I know it though! Everyone always talks about how kids grow up so quickly. I can see that already. I blinked my eyes and she is already a month old!
