Making Decisions on Behalf of Others

Making choices that impact our own lives is difficult. Making choices that impact the people that we love is even tougher. We don’t want to make the wrong choice and harm the person that we care about. But sometimes we have to make decisions for others.

For example, let’s say that someone you know is sick with a variety of health issues and one of them is sleep apnea. The individual needs CPAP equipment to get better but doesn’t feel well enough to buy it. You’re asked to make the purchase.

When you go to the store, you discover that this is no easy purchase. Should you get a sleep apnea mask or should you be looking at CPAP machines? You have no idea and you don’t want to make the wrong call.

In this case, you would want to consult a medical professional for assistance in making the decision. It’s often a good idea to call in a third party for help when making choices for others. This relieves the pressure on you and makes it easier to clearly see what the right choices are.

It’s especially good if you have an expert that you can call on. In this case that would be the doctor who diagnosed the sleep apnea. But even getting help from a sales clerk can sometimes make the decision-making process easier.
