I think that every family in America should be talking about two things right now, at their dinner tables, in their living rooms, in front of their TVS.  I think they should be talking about art.  Talking about their favorite kind of art, whether its literary, visual, photographic, poetic, or any other form they choose.  I think they should be talking about its various merits, benefits, myriad qualities that enrich their life.  I think they should be talking about how to pursue it, soak it up, marinate themselves in the artistic life.  Culture is being abandoned in the US, and I think it’s abhorrent.  The other thing people should be talking about is energy conservation.  I don’t mean sitting in front of your TV until you’re catatonic.  I mean shutting off lights when you leave a room, using TVs that aren’t so insanely high tech because they burn so much more power and you never notice the difference.  I mean discussing residential solar power, solar power panels, and answering “How does solar energy work?”  I’m talking about tabling a discussion everyday with your families that could save the world for the future.  Shut off “Heroes” and actually step up to be one.
