Trading electrical services for window installation

Working as an electrician, I am constantly amazed when I watch carpenters hard at their jobs. There is just something so organic and luxurious to working with wood. My feelings about this probably explain why you’ll find a completely decked out woodworking shop in my garage.
On a recent job site, I was thoroughly entranced by the building of several bay windows. The curving of the wood framing, the preparation for the windows themselves. It all added up to a wonderful symphony of technology and art coming together.
I’ve only ever had to perform a window installation once in my life. After that ordeal, I realized very quickly why the framers are able to command the wages they do. There is a preciseness that must go into framing a house, and specifically a window that you just won’t appreciate until you attempt it yourself.
After a wonderfully disastrous event laden affair that I won’t bore you with in this post, I learned that anytime I have a replacement window that needs to be installed, I simply call up one of my good construction buddies.
We usually agree to swap some of my electrical services for his wood working skills and get the job done. Oh, and there is almost always some beer and barbecue involved as well!
