I have a question for anyone out there who lives in the Seattle, Washington area.  I currently live in Portland with my husband who is a carpenter and he just landed a project to work on renovating someone’s house in Seattle.  We are both going to go up there, as I am currently out of work myself, and stay in a small apartment in the city for however many months it takes him to complete the house.  I would like to know about the safety of certain areas in the city.  We are obviously looking for pretty cheap places which probably aren’t in the best of neighborhoods so what do you recommend in the way of home security systems?  Do apartments generally come with fences or alarms?  I haven’t known an inner city apartment building to have much of a security system other than a front desk so I wondered if there are any companies out there who can install a temporary security alarm now until whenever we move out?  I was always with a good home security Phoenix system before I moved to Oregon but I don’t remember them ever mentioning a temporary alarm system.  If anyone has any company suggestions or can recommend a place that is safe and cheap to live I would really appreciate it!
