Prince of My Heart

I’m itching to play the latest Prince of Persia on my Xbox 360. In case you haven’t heard, the new game involves a different prince in a different conflict-something about gods and tornadoes. I think this means that there’s no way to reverse or slow down time, but everyone familiar with the previous Prince of Persia series knows that there’s so much more to the game than just the gimmicky “Sands of Time.”
I’ve been thinking a lot about the original Prince of Persia trilogy lately (it seems like it came out so long ago now), and I can’t help feeling a sense of nostalgia come over me. Ubisoft really knew what they were doing then. They gave us a game that didn’t run on just scene upon scene of adrenaline pumping-violence or beautiful women in skimpy clothing (though that didn’t hurt).
Prince of Persia was, at its core, a puzzle. I’m not just talking about the actual puzzles in the games; its story was never quite complete, its characters were never really fully realized. Jumping from ledges, tearing apart zombies, and healing yourself by drinking from mounted wall fountains-other games do this, but no other video game can claim to grasp your attention so intently and actually force you to use some critical thinking skills.
But now that I think about it, what was up with those magic outdoor wall fountains anyway?
